Today is a day of thanks and giving. Huckleberry Hideout is thankful for many wonderful things. Family, Health, Friends, Adventures and many, many more.
We are celebrating today with some of our family and friends. We wish we could share today with all of our family and friends but we know this is not always possible. So know you are here in our hearts celebrating with us. We’ve been asked many times what this, Huckleberry Hideout is all about? Well, we have some work to do, but with good friends, a husband who is as committed and excited as I am, we hope to be sharing our little piece of heaven with others by April/May 2020. Right now we are planning on vacation renting the house. As for the barn? Our hopes are being able to fix it up and rent for parties, events etc. I know this quilter believe it or not, that is excited about hosting a retreat using the barn and farm house. My husbands first event he would like to host will be a Polka dance. He remembers as a child going to Linda and Jerry’s business (Go Plant) for polka dances. The smile it brings to his face tells me that THIS will be the first event that we will host. Progress?? To be honest, not much in the last 2 weeks. It is deer hunting season and we have hunters on the property so out of respect for them, we have stayed away. BUT... There will be progress starting this weekend. We pick up the new stove Saturday. Yes there will be some pictures posted. Then, for me? CLEANING.. To be honest, it is a little overwhelming, I know, one step at a time. Ernie will be working on a total go over of the house. He wants to check it from roof to basement he said. Then he will have a game plan as to where to start and what to start with. (This means my cleaning may not happen if I “get” to help him. Monday we have the furnace lined up to be cleaned along with all the ducting. As my grand daughter says, “Gigi, where adventure go today?” I always respond, “where ever we want it too.” Our 32 years of marriage have been the best adventure ever and now we have this.... “yes Clara, I do believe where ever we want it too”

Friday Nov. 15th at 930 am we signed on the dotted line.
We can not thank Wisconsin Specialty Properties for thinking of us when they acquired this property. Rochelle has a great insight into properties and the people who should own them. There were so many incredible people who helped make this all happen. Starting with out realtor, Loan officer, title company, surveyor, appraiser, Tom the “insurance guy” and most of all J. J, you know who you are and we can not thank you enough for believing in us and having patients. Thank you to all.. We have been busy at the Huckleberry Hideout now that it is officially ours. Took sometime to check out the boundary lines today. It actually was very emotional for me. I just could not or can not believe that we are so blessed to have been able to buy this beautiful property. It has so much character and charm. We have been busy with clean up and organizing thoughts. Also purchased an electric stove, TV and Microwave today for the Farm house. What a great weekend. Now we are here on Monday waiting to hear from the bank as to how the appraisal went. He told us Friday that he was hoping to have the appraisal by the 13th. Well, 10am and we received an email stating that the appraisal came in and everything is good. So now it is on to getting closing costs together and we are still hoping for Friday Nov 15th for the signing, It was quite awesome when we received the email. I was heading to Ripon and Ernie was in his work truck traveling to a job. We both pulled over, read the email and called each other right away. It is a very exciting time for us. Looks like we will be having a working weekend this weekend. Can not wait.
The road we choose to travel is not always a smooth one. With that being said.......
Let’s face it, it’s been 32 years since we did this whole buying property thing. You tend to forget what it all takes. To start, time and a lot of it. I am thankful that I work part time right now as this has allowed me to be accessible. Inside that ”time” we have; banks, surveys, appraisals, paperwork, paperwork and I think more paperwork. At this point we are waiting on appraisal which is to happen tomorrow. If and when this is all completed, we should be signing on the dotted line the 15th of the month. There is much excitement between my husband and I along with “ are we crazy, we are 50 years old!!!” We like to keep it interesting, besides we wanted something to do when we retire. (So we keep telling ourselves). Kidding aside, we are very excited for this new adventure. Once the dotted lines are written on, we will share what our very near future plans will be.. Oh the ideas we have. |
